To reach the stated goal, research process has outlined several objectives:
To accomplish the goal and objectives outlined, research used both qualitative and quantitative methods.
Quantitative component
Survey was conducted on household level. That means, the survey had been designed according to the household data. Respondents were the heads of the households who are identified as decision makers by other household members.
At the beginning, the sample frame was divided into 2 strata: a) Refugees/humanitarian status holders and b) asylum seekers. Each stratum allocates subclusters according to targeted cities so that for each city we get a representative number (maximum 5.5% margins of error with 95% confidence level). The representative number specified for each stratum were selected from the database according to the principle of simple random (namely, systematic) selection: Household members (i.e. heads of households as potential respondents) of the target groups/strata were sorted alphabetically by their names and the so-called “Step” size will be determined. Over all 334 respondents were interviewed.
Qualitative component
In this case, purposive selection was used. The selection aimed to identify target groups currently residing in Tbilisi, Kutaisi and Gardabani. In this case, the following criteria was used to select respondents:
Respondents were contacted using the mobile number and recruited for an online interview. KIIs were conducted using the online platform ZOOM. Each interview lasted around 30-60 minutes. Discussions were video/audio recorded for transcribing. overall, 17 KIIs were conducted.
