The main goal of the study is to provide a situational analysis of the deinstitutionalization reform in Georgia through analyzing existing regulatory frameworks, conducted studies, progress achieved and remaining gaps in the process of deinstitutionalization (1), examine push and pull factors behind children’s institutionalizationin Georgia (2) and provide respective recommendations to proceed further with the deinstitutionalization reform.
The following methods of qualitative research are used in the research: Desk research, Focus group discussions, Biographic narrative interviews and Key informant interviews.
The target groups are: Large-scale institutions, Foster families, Family type small group homes and Biological family.
A total 70 Biographical interview, 7 key informant interview and 11 focus group discussions will be conducted within the research frame work. The project started on March 10, 2022 and will be completed on December 10, 2022.
