6 Jul 2015

By order of the UN Women Fund, the Institute of Social Studies and Analysis has conducted a social survey aimed at studying the legal needs of internally displaced women and women from ethnic minorities.

Both qualitative and quantitative methods were used in the frame of the research.

Within the framework of qualitative research methods were conducted:

  • 11 expert interviews (UNWOMEN legal clinics, state legal aid lawyers, representatives of court and prosecutor's office, GYLA);
  • 5 focus groups (beneficiaries of UNWOMEN legal clinics in Gori, Rustavi, Zugdidi, Kutaisi, and Marneuli);

Up to 500 internally displaces women were interviewed using the face-to-face interview in the quantitative research framework in Gori, Rustavi, Kutaisi and Zugdidi and up to 200 women of ethnic minorities were interviewed in Marneuli municipality.

The survey results are representative of IDPs living in these cities as well as ethnic minorities living in Marneuli municipality.

Additionally, UNWOMEN beneficiaries of legal aid clinics are presented with a statistically reliable sampling size(a total of 195 respondents).

It should be noted that this is a household survey, ie, the respondents gave information about female members of the family.
