In April, 2010 on behalf of International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES), Institute of Social Studies and Analysis (ISSA) conducted population’s attitudes research towards the debates, between Tbilisi Mayor Candidates in pre-election period. The research was based on two methods: qualitative (focus group discussions) and quantitative (online questioning).
The debates between Tbilisi Mayor Candidates were conducted in May, 8. During the first stage, in order to study the influence of the debates, four focus group participants were invited to the Institute of Social Studies and Analysis’ office (32 persons with different gender and demographic features). Focus group participants watched the debates in ISSA office.
Group discussions were organized after the completion of the debates in ISSA office (by 4 moderators).
During the second stage, quantitative (online) research was conducted. Approximately 300 respondents participated in the questioning. During the third stage, focus group results were transcribed, analyzed and translated. The results of online research were processed in SPSS program.
