History of the organization

The Institute of Social Studies and Analysis (ISSA) was established as a non-governmental research organization in 2000 by researchers working at Tbilisi State University. The Institute soon established its reputation as a reliable partner in the research field in the academic as well as public, business and civil sectors, due to the organization’s high professional and ethical standards.

The Institute of Social Studies and Analysis conducts social and market research with the use of advanced sociological methods. The differentiating characteristic of the Institute is that, in its work, it mostly focuses on the social problems of Georgian society and specific target groups; in addition, it has close links with the scientific and academic institutions and sectors. The organization’s focus from the beginning of its work has been the study and analysis of social problems in society; the Institute has had numerous projects such as: social, economic or gender inequality; problems related to the socialization of vulnerable social groups; topics related to the functioning of institutions, etc. In addition, the organization has constant connection with the academic field – within the frames of educational projects or various training programs, it contributes to the production and accumulation of knowledge in the field of social research. This process actively engages the staff of the Institute which enables them to constantly renew their professional knowledge and gain information about new approaches and methods in social sciences and statistics.

The Institute of Social Studies and Analysis has developed an organizational culture based on professionalism, in-depth analysis and high ethical standards. This culture is the reason the organization has retained a high level of prestige and expertise for years in the social research and educational fields in Georgia and in international circles.
