Institute of social studies and analysis conducted a sociological research ordered by Framework Convention and Tobacco Control, using both quantitative and qualitative research methods.
The aim of the quantitative research was to study society attitudes towards the tobacco-free environment. The target group was a population of Georgia (18 years and above). 1050 respondents were interviewed in total in Tbilisi and regions( Adjara, Imereti, Samegrelo – Zemo Svaneti, Samtskhe-Javakheti, Kvemo Kartli, Shida Kartli) using the face-to-face interview. The sampling error was 3% ( for the whole sample).
The aim of the qualitative research was to study the cigarette perception, attitudes regarding tobacco and the peculiarities of the impact of tobacco advertising in public space in children (7-12 years). The qualitative research was used, namely, the focus groups. Two group discussions were conducted. Target groups consisted of children aged 7-12 who were divided into age groups (7-9 years and 10-12 . 3 girls and 4 boys participated in each group). Based on children's age peculiarities, different types of projection research techniques were used - drawing, playing, associations.
